    DefaultSkunk spray in the face

A friend knows someone whose Golden was sprayed in the face( eyes and nose) by a skunk. From what I heard, it is a serious injury. The dog continues to vomit, won't eat. Has anyone heard of any first aid for this. Can a vet do anything? I can't imagine there's any way to clean it out of nostrils or sinuses. Does the mucus just wash it out in time? It must be a serious trauma for the dog.

    I'd certainly try the vet.

FWIW, the old tomato juice remedy doesn't work according to most people who've tried it.

"Skunk Off!" (Google it) is effective.

Giffin & Carlson in "Dog Owner's Home Vet Handbook" have a DIY recipe.
