DefaultSwimming causing bad itching and scratching?

I wonder if anybody else has experienced this with their Lab? We spend a couple of months at a lake and of course our Lab makes good use of the lake, swimming in it at least a couple of times a day. The problem is, she seems to have developed some nasty itching that requires her to scratch almost continously. She's kicking out big wads of hair, and I'm brushing her a lot also, and always comb out gobs of hair, I wonder if she's going to have any left.

Obviously the lake water is causing the problem. Anybody know of a remedy, short of keeping her out of the water? I'd hate to do that since she loves it so.

    Thanks.

I think it has more to do with the shedding maybe than the swimming.

You can try rinsing her off with the hose or in the bath when she's done swimming in the lake. If that doesn't work, I would say that something other than the lake is the cause of the itching....allergy, food, fleas..

It might also help to dry her fur and belly with towels after she gets wet rather than let her gradually dry.
