    DefaultPuppies and bones

Ok, so I have forgotten, but when do you think it's alright to let puppies have their first raw bone? My two monsters need some serious chewing action and we have various types of good chewing bones in the freezer for the adults. I know about limiting marrow initially, but do you think it's OK for 15 week old pups?

we gave Milly her first briskett bone at 16 weeks... we had the butcher cut them into smaller sizes than normal and I trimmed off all the fat and let Milly chew chew chew for about 20 minutes.... then I stuck it back in the freezer for the next week. Now she can chew 1/3rd of a briskett bone and it's gone in about 40 minutes...... we give one to her when we mow the grass.... it stops her from trying to "play" with the lawn mower..

Mine love shoes too, but that's really all my fault. If I don't pick them up, put them in the closet or shut the bedroom door, it's my own fault if the they get the shoes and chew.

    We'll try some bones tonight!

My pups get bones as soon as their mothers start dropping them into the whelping box . . . often about five weeks. They just suck on them, but the pleasure is obvious. It's very funny watching a little pup 'guard' its bone from its siblings.
