    DefaultAdopted Black Lab

I recently adopted a 9 year old black lab. She is a great dog and I do everything with her. I think she was on a raw meat diet before I got her and now I have her on some all natural food. The first month I got her she was fine eating in the morning and then at night. Now she will not eat in the morning. I put her food down and she will walk away. When dinner time comes she eats just fine. I'm concerned why she is not eating two meals a day like she was before. She only gets one cup at night of food. Before she was getting one cup in the morning and one at night. She also seems to be putting on some weight which is not good at her age. Its been real muggy so I haven't taken her out so much. It could be that too I think. Is there anything I should do or is this okay? I have another dog who only eats once a day as well so I'm wondering if she can sense it. Thanks again

I don't know a lot about raw diets, but since your girl is used to raw, perhaps the dog food is not agreeing with her? Maybe after living nine years with a good tasting diet, she doesn't like the dog food? Or it could be upsetting her tummy. Did you switch back gradually? Is there a reason you do not want to continue the raw, especially since she was doing well on it and now she's gaining weight. Why don't you check out the raw/natural diet section here, there are lots of people who know more than I who could possibly help you.

Thanks for the reply. I will check out that section. The women who I adopted her from recommanded I started giving her the dry gonatural food. I started adding in a tablespoon of wet food with the dry and she seems to like it. I'm still monitoring her weight.

She had so much personality and she doesn't show her age. Shes my first black lab and love her.
