I'll likely go back to Orijen as I'm fairly certain Rocky's diarrhea is NOT related to food...
but before I just go back to Orijen, what are some other good 'no grain" foods?
Take your PICK.
Natural Balance just came out with a grain free food this spring. http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dog...as/VenDog.html
I've used Taste of The Wild (the salmon kind) and Innova Evo Red Meat... Evo is a lot more expensive (~$60 for a bag) and I think the girls are actually doing BETTER on TOTW, which is about half the cost of Evo. I noticed that the girls' stools were a bit softer on Evo because it is VERY rich.. I had to reduce the amount of Evo I gave them, instead of 2 cups/day like the bag says, they got 1.5cups/day.. loose stools firmed up in just a couple of days.
What are you feeding them now??
Tanya, we're trying Fromm's Surf'n'Turf right now (salmon and duck based). So far, so good!
Interesting...why the surf and turn version? Would using a salmon food help his coat (it gets very true) or would I want to add things like fish to his food anywayOriginally Posted by henrysmom
I know a lot of people add fish oil capsules to their dogs' food.. Here is some more info I found about the benefits: http://www.judyshealthcafe.com/fishoil.htm
It helps a lot if a dog has allergies and helps with the coat and things like that.
I also feed a Salmon-based grain free food, and I've notice that my dogs' coats look a lot healthier.
I was using salmon oil capsules for months with no improvement, eventually I got lazy and stopped. err well, I was actually hoping the better food (Orijen) would help but it didn't.
Regarding fish based foods -any worries about the toxins in fish?
It depends I guess on how/where it is raised/farmed... ?
Hundenflogden is a great food
