DefaultAloe! Wish I'd thought of it years ago!

We keep plastic bottles of pure aloe in our medicine chest.

For only the second time in Dardog's life, he got a bath tonight. Chronic scratching lately, but no fleas. Allergies, I suppose, more along the lines of contact dermatitis. Grass, dirt, weeds... you know the stuff.

Oooooooops! No oatmeal shampoo left. I ran a tepid bath for him, plunked him in (he didn't squirm!) and lathered him in aloe. Rinsed him, toweled him dry and sent him on his way. I'm getting the puppy eye now... "I dunno what you did, mom, but I feel so much better!"

The nice thing is, even if the aloe isn't completely rinsed off it's still soothing him!

Just a tip for those who bathe their dogs.

P.S. The labs got a healthy squirt and rubbing of aloe on their rumps, too. Just... because.

Hadn't thought of that for itchy skin but it does make sense especially if there's any irritation or damage on their skin from scratching.

Does it take any the oils out of their skin and dry it out?

    Thanks for the tip!

Nah... it's a natural moisturizer! That's why you find it in so many commercial products! : -)

I had no idea that Aloe lathered. What a great idea. Thanks.
