My chocolate lab has dry skin and quite a bit of dander. I am looking for any suggestions in helping with this.

At this time of year, it could be from running the furnance/heat in your house. Especially if you have forced hot air or heat with a woodstove. If you heat with a woodstove, keeping a pot of water on the stove will put some moister back into the air (a humidifier on the furnance, too). Believe it or not, frequent brushing will bring out the oils in your dog's skin, and help with the dandruff. There's supplements you can give your dog, too- Grizzly Salmon Oil, Derm Caps, etc.

fish oil/vit. E and using the humidifier worked wonders for Baloo's dandruff.

Yep I asked about this a few weeks ago, Baloo's mom and a couple others were nice enough to suggest the humidifier, and it has helped tremendously! I also give fish oil caps. and she gets sardines as special treat once a wk. or so!

Okay, here's silly sounding question, but "How much fish oil?" I don't have forced air heat or a woodburing stove, so that is not an issue.

I noticed alot of dander on Lexi when I brushed her over the weekend. I am going to try to brush her more often, but she is not a fan of it, so I usually don't get more than 10 minutes before she's had enough & off racing around.

    My pretty girl, Lexi!
