Defaultcysts (forwarded from the senior lab section)

Does anyone know what causes "cysts" on a dog? She is 6 yrs old.

My dog appears to be making these now and wondered why?

If is something to do with diet or shots or what??

Do they have to be removed or can they be left alone.
I am not talking about lipomas.

    Thanks

Sorry to keep following this post around but you didn't reply in the Senior Lab Section after I posted a response to your question.

Typically when lab owners talk about cysts, they are really referrring to lipomas which are commonly found in older labs.

First, you need a vet to make a diagnosis to determine the type of cyst. Once they make the diagnosis, they can provide a treatment based on the cause.

As per the section in the Senior Dogs forum, The cysts are called follicular cysts. Does anyone know anything about these and why a dog would start to get them?? thanks
