Hello, I am new here - just googled and found your site. I have 2 yellow labs (mom and son) mom is 7 son is 2.
Both pups have developed some sort of irritation in between their toes on all four paws. The fur has become really dark red and doesn’t exactly smell too bad, but there is an odor. Does anyone know what this is? Should I bring them to see the our vet ? thanks !!
It sounds like the fur is discolored from your dogs licking their feet. It also sounds like they are on their way to hot spots/infections (the smell). Best bet would be to get them in to the vet to have them looked at.
Yeah, I am thinking the same thing - thank you for posting to me !
I agree with the MicksMom...the fur turns red from saliva stains and I'd take them to the vet too. Welcome to the forum! I just joined too but I've been a guest for a long time. There is so much great information on here! I'm addicted!
My male lab has been licking his paws lately so I'm not sure if it's the garlic he's getting for flea protection, maybe grain in his food or something outside. Starting to eliminate the garlic and see if that's the culprit for him.
