    DefaultNot fish oil but....

....California Natural Skin & Coat Supplement. Anyone ever try this? Opinions on it? Tucker has been battling dry patches on his back legs for a couple of weeks now. I don't know if it's from his food (been on this for months now with no issues, just improvements), or a few people suggested it's the weather and the fact that our woodburners are going 24/7 right now. My pet store guy told me to try this. The directions say 2 TB in the food once a day so that's what I've been doing for the last 3 days.

Thoughts/opinions? Am I wasting my money?

That's looks similar to what I give the dogs.

I think it helps them alot I know it's helped with their sheding. They still blow their coats twice a year but other than that Mocha doesn't shed much. Zeus still does but nothing like when we first got him.
You can get the ingredients here but you have to look down the list for the Skin relief formula stuff.

I don't measure it out though they just each get a squirt over their food morning and evening.

I would bet the itchy dry skin is from the weather/heat combo. I know I'm really itchy right now just dry skin and the dogs coats are not as lustery as normal even with the stuff. Mocha's blowing coat now though so it's probably part to do with that.

Can't comment on the product as I never used it.

If you don't see an improvement with it - try apple cider viniger daily at 1 tbsp in food with water added. Works great for dry flakey skin. Organic is your best bet.

Are you running a humidifier? That has helped me AND the dogs a lot.

No Sandy, no humidifier per say. Although both woodstoves have cast iron pots on top of them that are always full of water. Homemade humidifier.

I have not used the Cal Nat but have started making a blend of oils that is listed in the book [i]The Whole Pet Diet[i] by Andi Brown. I just started using this on the 1st and have noticed a great reduction in the amount of shedding already.
    5 oz of olive oil
    1 oz cod liver oil
    1 oz wheat germ oil
    1 oz flax seed oil
1 clove of garlic OR 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon of dried rosemary

Have you noticed a difference in scratching? Caleb's been scratching again the past few weeks. Also- do you keep the oil blend in the fridge?
