    DefaultProbiotic - Dosage?

As per my many many posts about Rocky's problems (poop/colitis) I went with the recommendation for probiotics. How do you figure out dosage? (it's one that needs to be refrigerated)

I bought: Udo's Choice Super 8 Hi-Potency Probiotic (8 specific strains to improve yeast imbalance - 30 billion viable cells)

    * a high potency formula to help support healthy microflora in the small and large intestine. Designed specifically with a higher percentage and concentration of L. acidophilus.*

Each vegetarian capsule contains 30 billion viable cells at the time manufactured.

in a base of microcrytalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and ascorbic acid - may contain traces of milk powder, whey and soy lecithin

Baloo gets 1/4 teaspoon (1 gram) every morning of ours, and it's very similar in contents to yours.

    I take the same dose.

It doesn't really matter of you go a little over, I have confirmed with many sources that any unneeded probiotics will just get flushed out by the body, they can't overdose on them. So I'd start with one capsule/day and go from there.

Also, if he's ever on antibiotics don't give the probiotic at the same time, I was told that they'll cancel each other out.

he's on nothing at the moment (finished his meds over a week ago) - they come in capsules but it looks easy to open and spill over his food. Will have to see how much grams is in each pill to calculate.

    thank you!

Since what your using is formulated for humans it is hard to say what you would feed an adult dog.

    The website says
Consume one capsule per day on a full stomach to maintain healthy intestinal flora or three capsules per day on a full stomach as a therapeutic treatment when suffering from intestinal disorders.

I would imagine one cap won't hurt.

Don't worry about it Tanya, ours is for humans and it works just fine.

I used to use the human capsules (refrigerated ones) and then found this and it's much easier to use and cost beneficial. You can use it, too!

I use SISU Dophilus Plus (for humans) for Henery. 1 capsule per meal, as per our holistic vet. It's $18.99 (120 capsules) at RCSS/Loblaws and lasts us 2 months.
