Henery has never had firm poopies while on kibble in his life... (that's 4 1/2 years of soft, mushy, semi-formed poops. :-\)...
... until now!!! HOORAH!!!!
After a long discussion with both Conventional Vet and Holistic Vet, we've decided to put him on:
1. Hill's Prescription Diet d/d (duck and potato)
2. digestive enzymes
in addition to his probiotic.
The difference was almost immediate... it went from horrible diarrhea to soft and formed to firm and formed!!! And it hasn't even been a week on the new diet yet.
*doing a madly happy dance of joy*
I do have issue with some of the ingredients in the d/d (namely ethoxyquin, pork fat and citric acid)... but I did find that Natural Balance Potato & Duck has very similar ingredients without the offensive ones. It uses canola oil instead of pork fat, and mixed tocopherols instead of the citric acid... and no ethoxyquin!!
So, the plan is to continue with the d/d for another month, and then slowly change over to the NB and hopefully he does as well on that, if not, back to the d/d.
But, in the meantime, HOORAH FOR FIRM POOPIES!!!!!!!

Yeah Henery!!! I hope your firm poop continues.
Doing the Happy Dance here for Henery too! Glad you found something that works and have a plan to proceed to as well. I'd not worry overly much about ethoxyquin for the moment. That is one subject that was quite hyped up over in years past. You can email me privately if you'd like. -anne

That's great I hope the change is a perminante one and you can get him switched to the NB when the time comes with no issues.
