    DefaultWorried Mom!

A week ago I noticed Bailey had some discolored discharge on his penis. Today, there is more and it's green. I called the vet and they said I definitely needed to bring him in. I have an appt this afternoon, but I thought maybe someone could shed some light on this? I'm a little worried :-\

I think there's a few others here who would know more than me, but I don't think it's anyting to worry too much over.

Probably just some sort of infection, some antibiotics will probably clear it right up.

I just got back from the vet, who informed me it was completely normal for dogs to have discharge (even if it's green). He said I probably have just failed to notice it in the past, and that if it gets worse he'd give me antibiotics. I am a little skeptical still. I'm pretty positive I would have noticed this discharge in the past three years of Bailey's life. Plus, he seems to be licking down there more than normal. Or maybe I'm just noticing it more. Hope the vet's right.

PS it's funny because ever since I've had Bailey, I seem to be much more hesitant to believe what the vet tells me. I think I may be a little overprotective!! ;D

I could be wrong, but I was told that "normal" discharge is sort of milky looking, and if it's colored then it's indicative of a infection..... I'd just keep an eye on him and see if it seems to be bothering him at all (frequent peeing, scratching, etc.)

Did they culture the discharge? I'd be concerned with anything green. (no it's not a sparty joke)

You have already taken him to the vet and I would trust him on this one. That is normal for a male dog, and usually isn't a concern.
But if you see any significant changes or he continues to lick it more than usual take him back to the doc.

The vet did not culture the discharge. He just squeezed around and sent me on my way! I'm sure you're all right though.....listen to the vet and do what he says :-X
