    DefaultEarly stages of labour..

If a female is in early stages of labour...... She's panting and restless.....goes in her crate and then comes out again..

How long will this process take??? :-[

I think it depends on the dog. Couple hours maybe..?? Longer..? I dunno.

Sounds like someone has a case of the mommy-jitters.

Could be days. Each bitch is different. I've known some to start nesting and panting 2-3 days ahead of time. Others its hours.

Just think of the poor person waiting to whelp that litter. LOL. That's why I love my girls. They usually have pups during the day and only start panting when they're close. I've heard of others that are dead on their feet by the time the bitch finally decides to get to it. They've been up for days thinking she was close.

I'm excited for you! I've seen dogs I work with take a few days too I know that's not what you want to hear! (But they're beagles and onery as heck anyway, so labs might be different)

Did her temp drop yet? That's been my best sign so far, breeders correct me if I'm totally wrong, but isn't 98F the magic temp usually?

LOL were you surprised or had shee been nesting/restless to at least give you some clue? The last litter we had dropped to 98, I waited, then it was back up to 100.3, then the next day she had the puppies :
