    DefaultInfected foot

Took Grace to the vet today for lumps between her toes on one of her back feet. We've had a bad problem this season with grass seeds, they are kind of like mini fox tails. All the dogs have them and we're constantly cleaning them out, but with Grace she must have tried cleaning her foot herself with a bit too much chewing and licking. Turns out it's an infection in the tissue and glands on the top parts between her toes. Hopefully the antibiotics help and dry it out like the vet said.

Just a word of advice, please make it a common practice to check your doggies' feet top to bottom and between the pads. If we weren't so dilligent about keeping an eye on them, we might have missed the first signs and it could have gotten to the point of open wounds.

I also hope Grace recovers fast. I think we call that grass cheat grass. It's nasty, but here it's past its season.

She's actually doing better already. The vet squished the bumps, and the one that he semi-drained was looking ALOT better. I drained the one he couldn't get to drain last night this morning, so hopefully these nasty things will be gone soon.

My neighbor has lived in his house for 4 years, and says this is the FIRST year this has happened (His dogs suffered too!). Apparently we didn't have enough rain to wash away the seeds... Even when I made the appointment, the vet receptionist was like "oh yeah, we're getting SOO many calls like this!"

Aww, poor Grace. I hope she heals quickly. I don't think we have anything like that here. If we do, I haven't run across it yet.
