Whenever we go camping with our 18month old yellow, her paws get ripped up at the end of the weekend. No bleeding or anything serious it heals quickly after being home for a few days. I've heard of something you can brush or rub on their pads to prevent it happening so quickly or at all. Does anyone know what this is or where I can get it?
Think you might be talking about Musher's Secret" pad wax - check your local feed store - not the big box pet stores - or on-line?
Yep, Musher's Secret. I got it at our local (privately owned) pet store.

We use Musher's Secret too. It works great.

None of the stores around here big box or mom and pop carries the musher's secret. But one place had what's called paw guard sounds very similar to musher's secret. If this stuff doesn't work this weekend I'll buy some of the musher's secret online. Just didn't have enough time to wait for shipping this time. Thanks for all the help!
I also use Bag Balm. I'm not sure where you're located, but I bought it at al local pet store (more like a feed/tack store). You can also get it at Lee Valley. I find it works well, as long as Daisy doesn't lick it all off!!! I've heard you can put a sock or something around her paw if it's really bad and to keep from licking... Good luck!
