When Puff runs in tall grasses wet with dew, the pollen and moisture on her tummy can give her a pyoderma -- a staph infection.

Antibiotics can knock it but it soon returns.

The most effective treatment has been:

-- lathering a Rx medicated shampoo (Benzoyl Plus) on her belly, leaving it on for 10 minutes, then rinsing it off. That removes the pollen and the medication.

-- thorough drying of her tummy right afterwards.

HK gets the same type of thing. I call it a mild rash on her tummy. The vet gave us a tube of some kind of antibiotic for staph infections. It seems to work great and doesn't take much.
