Just moved to the Puget Sound area in Wa State and took Mosa out for a swim. She swallowed a little water in the proses of fetch, normal I guess? We get home and she starts losing her Kibble, and eating grass? Is it the salt water? Should I take her to ER? Any tips?
Yep, salt water will make them puke. It's not an emergency situation. She'll just puke it up, and she'll probably get a bit smarter about swallowing too much of it in the future
I had a golden retriever that liked to eat the "foam" off the waves when they came ashore. Never failed, he'd puke all over the car on the way home from the beach, but he was no worse for the wear (can't say the same for that old car though ;D
That and sometimes they will get diarrhea :-X
My last dog a golden used to go into the saltwater, liked to swim with his mouth open. Never puked but hated the water.
Thanks. She is fine now and ready to chase more harbor seals! I hope she can learn to keep her mouth closed?
Even fresh water will, or at least it does to my Lab. Jes also swims with his mouth wide open (has to when he's retrieving) and sucks down lots of water. If he swims long enough, he always pukes.
I would assume she'll get enough water in her mouth to smarten up.
