charlie had his operation on his torn ligament 7 weeks ago, we took
him to the vets on saturday, and the vet was really pleased with his
progress. apart from being a little stiff when he gets up from
having a long nap ( which lasts for about a minute or maybe less)
we too are pleased with his progress. the vet said he can now go
for a five minute walk twice a day, so we've been walking him on
the grass verge just a little way up the street and back down again.
the poor boy was so pleased to be out! but today when i was walking
him i could hear a clicking noise coming from his leg, it didnt seem to bother
him and he wasnt limping, obviously im going back to the vets with him
but i just wondered if anyone else has heard this with thier labs, and if
so any ideas what it could be? we have been SO carefull with his post op
care, i really hope its not something bad, i cant face the thought of him
having another op so soon
This happened to my girl about 8 weeks after her surgery. Our news was that the surgery did not hold and we had to do it again
Hopefully this will not be the same news for you....but be prepared.
I think that is common and there is no reason to think the surgery failed, but worth a trip to the vet. It could just be some cartridge rubbing.
Yes some clicking can be common. We were not so lucky. Hopefully Charlie's outcome won't be the same..but always be prepared.
When I asked my ortho-vet he said it was the tendon clicking across the bone. In our case it was not a problem. Darby's surgery held and she didn't have any more problems with it.

did you go to the vet?
Mocha's front legs make that clicking sound. I'm pretty sure it's both of them more at the ankle than the elbow though. The vet did a pretty through exam and couldn't find any looseness or anything so she said to just keep her on G/C (which I started a few weeks before the vet visit) and it has improved but I still hear it when we're walking occasionally. It doesn't bother her so I just keep an eye out.

the vet said he thinks the leg is fine allthough he isnt 100%, he said if he starts
showing discomfort, or if he starts limping he'l reveiw the situation, untill then he
said to keep giving him his glycoflex and he'l see him another month, so fingers
crossed he just might be ok. by the way thanks for the replies
