    Defaultbandits new vet

    we took bandit to his new vet yesterday had him checked soup to nuts he wieghs 109.9.he did have a
    slight ear infection which she gave us some cream to put in his ears.is temp was 104 witch she thought
    was high.today we got a phone call with the blood work results his white blood cells were high so she put him on metronidazole flagyl 500 mg has any one had to put there dog on this med and how did it work.

    They use Flagyl for fungal infections. Does the vet think the temp is from an ear infection? I hope Bandit feels better soon.

    Metronidazole (Flagyl) is an antibiotic used mostly to treat protozoal infections (like giardia) and anaerobic bacterial infections.

    If Bandit's white cell count is high, he is fighting some sort of infection, may be from his ears or elsewhere.

    Henry has been on Flagyl before, but mostly for gut-related issues.

    104 temp is definately high. I would monitor his temp to be sure he goes back down to normal (102).

    Hope the meds clear up his issues and he is feeling better soon.

    My lab Congo was put on Flagyl to treat a stomach related issue. A temperature of 104 is something you want to monitor, but its most likely the result of the ear infection. At least the infection was caught earlier, so may it will clear-up sooner. Best of luck...keep us updated.
