He (the dog) could stand to lose a few pounds.

    Hi-
It's important to keep them at a healthy weight. He does look like he needs to shed a few pounds. I have heard that looking down at your dog from a top view, their waist should be narrower than the belly and hips (their bodies should get narrowest at the waist)...and that you should be able to easily feel their ribs with your hand.

It is hard sometimes with these cuties because they can be so food fixated that its easy to give lots of treats. Cutting back on the food might help, and you can try using low calorie treats like baby carrots - which my lab loves!

Sounds like you have done a lot of training with Bandit, which might mean you have been using a lot of treats for training? I know my dog got a bit heavier after a few weeks of training because I was constantly rewarding her with treats :-)

Sounds like you are giving Bandit a great life, especially for a guy who was off to a rough start. Lucky boy!

I dont' think he looks like bad, just looks like he's a big boy. Could stand to lose a few. Nice pic of the three of you though.
