I was just told by a lady at my butcher shop that if you do not trash marrow bones with in 24 hrs. it will cause worms. Anyone ever hear of this??
I always refreeze them if there is anything left. My guys are on Inteceptor which takes care of intestinal parasites. We use marrow bones weekly and have not had a problem.
Sounds like an old wives tale to me.
I have had old marrow bones lying out in the back yard for anything up to a fornight. I only chuck them out when the dogs lose interest. No case of worms yet.
I agree - we keep 'em for ages - once cleaned of marrow. If marrow is still in the bone, and the dog is done with it - I refreeze for at least 24 hours - and then they can have it back. No worms here either!
I refreeze also
Another re-freezer here too....
I re-freeze too.

My back yard looks like an archealogical dig, frankly. I'm waiting for the neighbours to call the cops on me actually, there's so many bones out there.
I wouldn't worry about it.
