    DefaultTravelling with Labs

We're moving across the country the end of April and it will be the first time either of my labs have been on an airplane. I'm worried that something might happen. They can't go on the same flight because the planes are smaller and only allow one live animal per flight so one is going early in the morning and the other is going at noon with me. It will be a long day and a long time in a kennel for them but this is really the only way to get them there. We thought about driving but it would take over a week and we have limited time to get there. I have the kennels set up in our living room now and I'm trying to get them used to being in them (a little at a time). I'd like for them to get the point where they go in there on their own but so far only Ben has done that and only because I was either mad at him or vacuuming. Jake doesn't like to be in there at all and I'm worried that by me making him stay in there a little everyday I might be making him hate it even more. I have managed to get them to go in there on command....is there anything else I should be doing?

you mentioned that Ben only goes in when you are mad at him.. you aren't punishing him and putting him in the crate are you?

I think he goes in there to hide or because he knows I'm happy with him when he goes in there. He kind of goes in and then pokes his head out as if to say "I'm being good now mommy.....be happy again." It's really hard to stay mad at him.

Thanks for the links. Unfortunately we're limited as to what airline we can use....we live in Canada.
