A week ago I wrote that my Rudy was diagnosed with mast cell tumor on his hind leg. Today the results came back from the pathology report. It is called a hamartoma and it is BENIGN!! Thank you for all the prayers!
The vet never heard of it before. It is either from embryonic tissue or tissue that is right with the skin. Needless to say my family and believe it or not, Rudy too, are totally relieved.
The road to healing the wound is not over though. It is infected and is completely open and unable to close. The stitches were removed because of the work that would be involved to close it and no guarantee it wouldn't reopen. It just happens to be in the wrong area to heal without any movement disturbing it. We are keeping it bandaged and he has to have a collar around his head when we are away at work or sleeping. But the best is it isn't cancer and we can surely handle the rest and so can Rudy!
I am so happy for you and Rudy. Good luck with the stitches.
