Well, I gave it a shot, and am embarrassed to admit that I tried the Clotrimazole home remedy solution (Monistat 7). Does not work at all. Didn't make them worse, just didn't improve them at all. It was worth an $8 gamble to at least try it out, though.
So I'm picking up my tried and true Panalog/Conofite refill at the Vet tomorrow.
Update: So Cole has been on the Panalog/Conofite cocktail since Saturday and his ear infection is almost completely gone! Amazing how fast this stuff works - it is awesome. $26 and the bottle usually lasts me a year. I will treat him through this Saturday and then per my Vet, he gets a squirt in his ears after every swim.
Have you tried the purple stuff?

I have tried to find the ingredients for the purple stuff and nowhere can I find the gentian violet, so I just gave up!
Not only that, doesn't that stuff stain?
A premixed version of the purple stuff is available at urbancarnivore.com
A non-staining alternative is Dermapet - but this one may sting if the ears are inflamed.
