Merlin started off with a small wound on his left cheek, an hour later he had one on the other cheek. I applied betadine, and went off to buy a ladder.
At the most 2hours later I came home, and all under his collar, on his neck was a wound!
I put some little socks on his back paws so he couldnt scratch anymore, and this morning I took him to the vet.
He said it is heat rash, and in this weather (40+ degrees and up around 90% Humidity), it can happen very quickly.
So now he is all shaven, and I have two types of pills (one is an antibiotic) and some cream.
Has anyone experienced heat rash this badly? Could Merlin actually have an allergy that was made worse by the heat?
I can't really see the first picture, but the second one. Poor guy!
I have no clue about heat rash in dogs, but to me what you describe also sounds like a hot spot...
Hot spots occur most frequently in the heat and they can spread -- fast.
You must be in Australia or somewhere for it to be 40+ degrees, right?
Oh my God!!!! Poor boy
Speedy recovery and good thoughts for Merlin

Maybe what they call heat rash is what we are calling hot spots? Sounds like that to me also. Barnsley had a bout with it here when it was super hot and humid. It can really be a battle to heal it up. Search hot spots on here and you should get more information also. Poor Merlin, hope he feels better soon.
