DefaultHelp with constructing first aid kit?

I'm putting together a doggie first aid kit for the car. I can't think of anything else I should add, can you give me suggestions?

    What I have so far:
    - Vet wrap (2 packages)
    - Hydrogen peroxide
    - Gauze (2 sizes)
    - tweezers
    - scissors
    - Miracle dust (most fantastic product evah. Seriously.)
    - towels
    - ?

I was thinking of something for dogs that may be going into shock or hypoglycemia, like a high calorie paste or something (sort of like the stuff they use for puppies who aren't eating well). Any thoughts on brands/products?

    Anything else I'm missing? TIA!

Kate, great post. After Elias injuring his paw pad this weekend I told my husband we needed a doggie first aid kit.

It's a product from urban carnivore, fantastic stuff. Heals up cuts and scrapes in no time, stops bleeding instantly.

Here's a linky, it's the last one at the bottom:

How about those ice packs that all you need to do open the pack and shake and they turn cold.

    Aspirin

    Antiseptic ointment

Medical staples (sold in "disposable packs" of ? To close larger gaping wounds

Giffin & Carlson's "Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook" has a small section on first aid treatment and a suggested list of supplies to keep on hand. If you do not already have a copy, probably your library does (or can get it on InterLibrary Loan) -- or you can buy a used or new copy from Amazon (this book saves much money and worry and covers all ages and all conditions and all systems). A new edition is out and has added two more vet's names on the authors side.

Bruce Fogle's excellent "First Aid for Dogs" makes the 1st aid section in G&C (above) look skimpy. Very clear illustrations, descriptions, and ratings of urgency. It also has a list of suggested supplies to keep on hand. For items to have in a canine First Aid Kit, I'd say #1 is a copy of this book -- it's a soft cover so it travels well. Inexpensive when new, even less when bought used. It's a treasure.
