For Ender's 9 month birthday, he's getting snipped. We tried waiting longer but it just seems like the right time for several reasons. I guess the main one for me is having the peace of mind when I take him to a dog park or other area where there might be dogs that nothing "accidental" can happen. I think what did it for me was hearing that we had just missed a female IN HEAT last time we went to the dog park. :
Tough decision Lindsay, I'm sure there are a lot of pro/cons to weigh!
Oh boy Ender! You're gonna get to go to doggy day care again!

That would have scared me too! Now Ender can go back to daycare!

Yup... that was reason #2. I enjoyed the peace of mind that doggy day care provided... one "day off" for Eric and me in the exercise department and assured socialization for Ender at least one day per week. Since seeing dogs in the park and on the beach is not dependable.
aww it will be ok.
I am sure Ender would love to go back to doggie day care though!!! ;D
I can't believe how good it is for them. Just from a couple day care sessions Buck has already shown considerable improvement in the dog to dog greeting behaviour. He is a totally different pup now. It's great!

I don't think there are any cons, not in my opinion anyway.I'm sure there are a lot of pro/cons to weigh!
Good on you for getting it done!!
It's time, Ender! Corby got *done* at 7 months -- the next day he had to go back to the vet clinic for something unrelated, and he bounced in like they were all his best friends ;D Gotta love the forgiving nature of labs!
Aww...poor Ender!! Just teasing ;DWe've been trying to hold out getting Fergus snipped too! We are hoping to get it done it in January. He'll be 18 months old then and 6 months post-op from his Cruicate surgery (I was just a little uncomfortable having him go under again any sooner then that). If Fergus had been healthy this past year and out socializing with other dogs we probably would of done it by now as well. Hopefully his knee will be good to go in the New Year then we'll get him snipped and then he'll be ready to run & play!! Is Ender 9 months already?? Time sure flies.....
We tried to hold out til one year old for Bodie, but ended up having it done sooner, so I know how you feel. We did it for the same reasons you mentioned, and also because Bodie was humping absolutely everything. We were so glad after it was done.
