    DefaultIt wasn't a tic, not a flea...and not a louse...

    ...so what was it??? ???

Today I found a kind of insect in Emma's coat, and believe me I haven't sen anyting like it before...

It was like a mix of a tick, an ant, and a spider It was brownish with a head and then a flat, round body with 3 pair of legs. It crawl deeper in the fur when I tried to grab it, and I had a hard time to grab it so I took a comb and then I got it out I smashed it and it was blood in it... I gave Emma a bath just in case, and vacum cleaned the floor

Have you any idea what it was, I'm pretty sure it's not known around here, maybe it comes from another contry? Do you have something like it in the states? Maybe some of you who work with rescues know about this ugly creature?

Well I can assure you it wasn't a spider -- they only have 8 legs -- so rule that out. It does sound like a tick to me. Ticks come in many different varieties and have different appearances. I pulled two of Sami in one sitting and they were entirely different in looks.

    Where are you located?

Yes I know it wasn't a spider! I just said it looked like it so you could imagine how it looked like. It wasn't a tick either, I've seen a lots of them and Emma have probably had 20 - 30 of them just this year. Ticks are very, very common around here. And they have 8 legs too

This one was a bit bigger and had a bigger head than a tick and then a body after the head... I live in Sweden, never seen anything like it...

Yes I squeezing the ticks too, I counted the legs once and I read somethere that they are kind of related to spiders.

The flat body would make me think its a flea.

A "seed tick" (ie- tick larva) has 6 legs... I would guess that is likely what it was?

Thanks guys but no it didn't look like a flea..and it didn't and couldn't jump, and no it didn't look like a seed tick on these pics either... It was bigger, much bigger than a flea...and the body was flat like a tick body but the head was demarcate from the body like a ant..but it was flat, and brownish... You probably think I've lost my mind I'll search on the net and see if I found something which look like it... :-\
