Cammy has been licking inbetween her paw pads. It is very red around this area. Is there some kind of ointment or powder I can use?
First, I would recommend taking your friend to the Vet. Ask the vet how you might control her itching. They may recommend a mixture of Benadryl and Omega 3 fatty acids in combination.
Should you not be able to do that for any reason or even after you see the vet you might shampoo her feet one a day with Hexadene Medicated Shampoo 8 Oz by Virbac
Get a little tub put the shampoo in, suds feet. Wait ten minutes then rinse well once a day for ten days. You might keep this on hand for any outbreaks.
Do anything to keep her from licking her toes.
Tell us what happens,

I think a call to the vet would be in order, per your suggestions.
I give her a fish oil tab every day, but I'll add the Benadryl in the a.m.
Is the medicated shampoo available in stores, or would I have to purchase the soap at the vets?
Thanks so much for your help
You could try using Bactine on the hot spot to take away the itchiness.

Last weekend, we returned from a week long camping trip in Canada. Towards the end of the trip she started licking and itching her back paws. We gave her bendaryl and put neosporin on her pads. She went to the vet on Monday and got an antiobotic and a shot. He also advised soaking her feet in Dreft soap for 10 minutes a day. She is fine now.
