Lawd help me!
I need some good thoughts, guys. Sawyer is so pitiful this morning - it just breaks my heart. What's going on with my babies? :-\
Sawyer was at the vet on Friday for his annual visit / vaccinations, and they found hookworms - otherwise perfectly healthy. I went away for the weekend and Ron stayed home. When I came home Sunday, the dogs had just eaten, and Sawyer vomited all of his dinner. 3 times since (it's now 5am) he's vomited, and had diarrhea once.
Could it be the hookworms? Could it be the coccidia that Sammy is being treated for? What am I doing wrong!? :'(
Ugggg!!! I hope they feel better soon!
Sorry no advice here.
Thanks Lindsay! We took him in this morning and the doc doesn't really know what's wrong. Gave him an injection to help settle his GI system. We'll go from there.
Just seeing this, Brooke. Could have been a reaction to his shots; reaction to the hook meds (did they give him Drontal)? If they did, be sure you REPEAT it in 3 weeks. Also, you might want to give Interceptor vs. Heartguard as they take care of hooks. Sorry that you guys are having a tough time.
Thanks Sandy. Yeah, we've switched them to Interceptor now that we realize the difference.
The doc gave him some sort of liquid stuff on Friday for the hooks, but we couldn't get it down him, so he gave us the Drontal this morning.
Good thoughts coming your way.
Hope your furball gets all better soon

sorry, no advice,
just wanted to say i hope he feels better soon, poor baby.
Just make sure you get another dose of Drontal in 3 weeks or the eggs will hatch/breed and you'll never get rid of them. They might want to do another stool sample at 3 weeks, but I've always found it's best just to redose. Poor Dutchie had them horrible when I adopted him. Took about 4 doses for that poor boy; he was skin and bones. Just about all the shelter dogs came into rescue with them. Good luck; I hope he feels better soon!
They did tell us to come back and get more Drontal in 2 weeks (I think it was 2 vs. 3) and to just give him rice with some beef broth tonight. So far he's been a little better today.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts you guys!
