    DefaultSamantha won't eat (2nd UPDATE)

Good morning!* My girl is doing so much better already this morning.* She woke up spunky and seemed hungry.* I added some canned food to their kibble and she ate!* Her nose is looking better too. I'm so happy - and so relieved.

Thanks for the advice yesterday. I'm so glad I took her to the vet.* *
    *

    ************************************************** **********
COCCIDIA!* Vet thinks it's most likely caused by the d*mn stray cats next door!* GRRR!* (Sammy's a poo eater, so it doesn't matter how much we clean up hers & Sawyer's poo, you can't really find cat poo.)* She's on some meds (Albon) and should start regaining her appetite in a day or so.* Thank goodness she'll be fine.* I put Neosporin on her widdle nose too.* Thanks for all the prayers & thoughts.* *

I'm so angry about those cats!* Ron said we should give the bill to our irresponsible neighbor.*

    ************************************************** **********

Sammy didn't want to eat dinner last night - I finally got her to eat about half of her meal.* This morning she won't eat at all.* She has no interest.*

The only thing I can think of is that her nose is rubbed raw and maybe it hurts to stick her nose in the bowl.* I'm guessing she did it on the carpet - she does this all the time, but has never actually rubbed it raw.* I tried hand-feeding her, but she wasn't interested.

1.* Should I put anything on her nose?
2.* How concerned should I be that Sammy won't eat?* *

I don't have any good advice on the eating but her nose does look really sore. If she would leave it I would put some ointment. Poor Samantha

Did anything happen yesterday? Did she get into something? I don't know what your dog is like about food but if Oona wasn't eating that would be a signal that we would need to see the vet today.

For us, too. Sami lives for her meals and not eating would definitely mean something's wrong. I would think that if it was just her nose that she would eat out of your hand.

I'd probably put some antibiotic ointment on that nose too.

Not eating could mean a lot of things. If Samantha is a typical eat till you drop food crazed Lab, not eating probably means she is not feeling so good. If she is a self regulating Lab it could mean all sorts...it could be the heat, you could be overfeeding, etc. etc, or as you say it could be her nose.

Take her to the vets if you are worried. Not eating almost always signals a vet visit for my dogs.

Poor Sammy The nose looks very sore and maybe it's why she isn't eating... Wait until tomorrow and see if she feels better then, othervise I would probably call the vet. Good thoughts for Samantha. I really hope she feels better soon!

You can put neosporin on her nose, but if she isn't eating; I'd see the vet. Not a good sign in labs and with her being a senior; you don't want to take chances. Please let us know!!!!
