    DefaultRoundworms

Hi everyone!* We have a new Lab, Comet, my daughter's......went to vet yesterday and found out that she saw roundworm eggs in his stool.* We have 2 other dogs that have been playing with him the last couple weeks.* He even licks our Rottie on the mouth.* How is roundworm transmitted from dog to dog besides getting into each other's stool?* I feel so bad for not getting him in sooner to the vet......just had some "human" medical issues we have been dealing with.* Any advice? Vet is gone til tomorrow A.M.

    Thanks!

How old are your dogs and are your other dogs on HW preventative like sentinal or interceptor? If they are, the pill will elimate any roundworm exposure....

But yes, they can pass it along to each other. Make sure you are picking up the infected dog's poop.

Where do you live that you don't have dogs on HW preventative?

I would strongly suggest getting your dogs on Interceptor or Heartgard Plus. Iowa does have quite a few cases of heartworms (eastern moreso than the western side, but if I lived anywhere in Iowa I'd have my dog on heartworm medication).

What Nick said. You are putting your dogs' lives at stake by not having them on preventative. There aren't too many places east of the Rocky Mountains that don't need to have their dogs protected.

PLease get them tested and put on preventative. a simple monthly pill will save their lives.
