I just found a Knot on Magic's side.(Male 8 months).about where his ribs are at..its not hard and you can move it a little...no pain..any ideas??...of course we are going to the vet in the morning..I am just concerned..Vanessa
It is very probably a lipoma. these are movable benign tumors..very common in labs
Chase knows all about those annoying fatty tumors... at last count, she's the proud owner of 18 of the pesky little things!* :P*
(All have been checked by our vet and are not cancerous.)
Sounds like the end of the "floating" rib. Perfectly normal.
At 8 months, a little young for a lipoma.* Agree with Dogmom about the FLOATING RIB.Originally Posted by PhConn

Has he had any shots lately? Mocha developed a knot much like you described after a vaccination. The vet said it was a reaction to the shot he gave and to put a warm compress on it and it should go down. Mocha's didn't but I won't get into that.
