I've noticed lately that my 9 1/2 yr. old Chocolate has a runny nose. It seems like it's happening more and more often, which is kind of starting to worry me. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their baby. Perhaps it's simply another sign of aging, but a Mom can never be too careful... ??? Any advice would be so greatly appreciated.
If it's yellow or green that means there is an infection brewing. Other than that I don't really know. I would call your vet and ask his advice. Let us know what he says.
"A runny nose indicates an irritant in the nasal passages.* Because irritants also produce sneezing, those two signs tend to occur together." -- Giffin & Carlson, p. 200, "Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook"* (about $25 at Amazon).
It could be worms (Puff got a case of rare worms that live in the nasal passages) or some other irritant.* Or it could be a canine respiratory disease.* G&C list a number of possibilities.

Earlier this year( spring and Summer) when Ernie was sick with allergies he had a runny nose. I was worried, but the vet said some dogs do have runny noses. It wasn't coloured so I haven't worried too much.
I have taken Ernie off dried food and his coat and runny nose has cleared. If we are out walking his nose pours, so i think it could be allergy to grass or pollen.
Took Buck to the vet on friday about him sneezing and he had runny nose. But it was clear. He thinks it's allergies. Said that as long as the discharge is clear it's nothing bad.
But if I were you I'd just make a quick vet trip to see what's up that cute nose
