    Defaulttrouble peeing

My 12 week old chocolate went swimming for the first time yesterday. Ever since, sometimes she pees normally and other times she squats but only drops come out. She is also peeing more frequently and in the house (she usually doesn't pee in the house).
When I take her out she will squat to pee about 5 times or more but only pees the first time, every other time she just pees a drop or two. Does she have an infection or something?

I'd trot her off to the vet and check for a UTI!

Yup, UTI was right on the money. Hopefully it will clear up with the meds.
    Thanks for the help!

Update: I thought after 6 days on the meds for the UTI she would have been showing signs of improvement but she wasn't. So I took another urine sample to be tested today. It showed signs of crystals in her urine. So now, more antibiotics and prescription food. Augh! My poor puppy.

oh ouch! poor pup!! When Dakota had a UTI we had signs of improvement after the first dose and within 24 hours she seemed normal (even though she still had antibiotics to finish) - I'm glad you took her back in!! Hope she is better soon - if they feel anything like when humans get them they are NO FUN!!

What are you feeding her? Some foods seem to form more crystals than others. I had this problem when I fed Nutro.

Also- have you thought about cranberry supplements? I have started giving Dakota cranberry relief for her recurring vaginitis issues until she goes into heat and can be spayed...

We thought Mercedez may have had diabetes when we first got her. She would pee alot. We had her blood tested and brought a urine sample. She had crystals in her urine too! It did turn out to be a UTI. With the meds the vet prescribed within a month the crystals cleared up and she seemed more normal with her outings! Good Luck
