As many of you know, Thor was bilaterally cryptorchid (TWO undescended testicles) and he was neutered on Friday. The vet said that there will be some bruising..Is this bruising or is a vet visit in order? Thanks in advance. I just wanna make sure I'm not overreacting. Thanks again!
Oh, golly. It's hard to say definitively but that looks not much different thna Puff's surgery (spaying).
Puff [YF, AKC field line (from competing HT/FT breeder) 62 lbs, dob: 8-'01]
Bess [BF, AKC bench line (from competing show breeder) 55 lbs., 1967-1981] "Poor Bess, the Wonder Dog":
I think you should take him in for a recheck. That doesn't look good to me even if it was more invasive. Most vets will charge a bit less or not charge for a quick recheck.
I agree, it's really hard to say. Brigetta was spayed last Wednesday and the main thing I've been watching for is any type of pus or drainage from the incision, foul odors, etc. I would call your vet to be on the safe side. I hope Thor has a speedy recovery!

It looks normal, IMO. Redness of the skin can be expected after surgery.
Over a month ago, my boy Murph had to have surgery to remove an intestinal obstruction. His scar is in the exact same place as Thor's and looked pretty much identical. It looked red, sore and generally pretty disgusting but the vet said this was normal and it would heal soon after the stitches were removed. Sure enough, after the stitches were removed, it looked 100% better within a few days.
If you are really worried, phone your vet.
If the testicles were undescended, the vet had to go up into his body cavity to find them instead of just a regular neuter where they are "there". Often they don't know where they are but they need to find them. That may account for more bruising but if you are concerned take him in for a check.
