Hmm. I wonder if it would work for us. I'll try anything. We were told though, by the vet that Raven's glands were back further than normal and that is why hers do not empty on their own. We have tried all kinds of fiber (which I assume why prunes work). Thanks for the tip though.

Prunes can make one a bit "gassy" - that would be my biggest concern!

I was worried about that too, but we didn't have any problems with gas.

I looked at the back of the package and 5 prunes only have 3g of fiber. So I don't know why they work...

But that is 3g of fiber on top of whatever fiber is in their food.

Trust me. If YOU eat 3 prunes, you will, um, have the mail delivered.

3 grams of fiber doesn't seem like a whole lot. I guess it depends on who you talk to? We used pumpkin, also metamucil (which I would guess has a great deal of fiber) and also fiber one cereal which I think had 5 or 6 g of fiber per 1/2 cup. That may have worked but seemed to be a food related allergy to that one. I'll try this and let you know in a few months!
