    DefaultQuestion for a friend

I have a friend from another board I am on. I told her I would post it here and see if anyone has any ideas. I will just copy and post the question so I don't miss any info.
    Any help would be appreciated.

My 18month old choc lab has wiped her butt on the grass 2 times now....
There is nothing in her stool...

The mosquitoes are so bad here and I think she got bit on her butt hole or anus. When she is laying in the grass they swarm around her and I think the only place they can bite her is on the anus. Her fur is so thick....

My dh thinks I should take her to the vet but I looked at it and I think its red b/c of the mosquitoe bites....
    What do you all think?
After she wiped it I saw a tiny abrasion... Nothing today.
If I take her to the vet it will be around $100....

She is Aavery healthy dog! She is on Frontline and Heartworm med...I don't think she has the other kind of worms...

She might want to just bring in a stool sample and have a fecal exam done to "rule out" parasites. These are usually much cheaper than actually bringing your dog to the vet. My vet does them for $18 a pop. (I know because I'm overly neurotic and have sent in a stool sample a couple of times now)

My first thought was anal glands or worms.

Tell her that if her vet charges $100 for an office visit, it's time to find a new vet.

Anal glands would be my first thought.
