I pulled the very first tick off of Henery yesterday..... blech!!!!
I was rubbing his chest as he was falling asleep (he LOVES this!) and noticed something hard. Thinking it might be a small scab from where his harness clip sometimes rub, I took a look and there was this ugly horrible tick crawling around on my baby's fur!!!!!! It hadn't attached yet, I just pulled it off.
Sooooo grossed out.
So what do you all use for ticks?? He's supposed to be on Revolution (we haven't started yet) for fleas and heartworm, but I have my reservations considering it's not 100% effective?
Thanks, in advance!
We're trying out a combination of topical Zodiac (available at Petsmart) and HW Interceptor (from the Vet) for now.* If the Zodiac doesn't work out we'll go to a more expensive topical such as Frontline or Advantix, but everything looks good so far.

I had been using Frontline but discovered 2 ticks on Sami. Granted, I had let 5 weeks go by between applications, but I want to stretch applications out as much as possible. The ticks I plucked off were firmly attached. Blech!
I switched to K9 Advantix and applied it exactly 5 weeks ago. I'm getting ready to do another application tonight, but so far no ticks. And because I love the outdoors and we live near the woods, Sami and I hike in thick woods every day ~ and this is major tick country, too! So, in my limited experience, I'm very impressed w/ the K9 Advantix, which is said to repel ticks, mosquitos, and fleas, as well as kill them.
We use Frontline. Haven't had any ticks on Larry yet, so I have no complaints.

Frontline for fleas/ticks and Heartgard for heartworms.
ewwwwwww, i totally agree with you on finding ticks! they really gross me out too!
we use k9 advantix b/c we take the dogs on daily walks through trails in the woods etc.
and interceptor for one dog and heartguard plus for the other.
We also use Interceptor for heartworms. I'm not too sure how I feel about a topical treatment for heartworm prevention.
Frontline Plus (not Frontline w/o the plus) for fleas & ticks. I apply it every 45 days.
Interceptor for heart worms and a variety of other worms.
Puff runs an hour every morning in woods and fields where there are many ticks. She's done that daily for the last 4 years. She's never gotten Tick One.
I occasionally find them on me.
