Can anyone recommend any supplements to help add moisture to a lab's coat. *Both Jakie and Duncan have drier coats then usual this season??
I supplement Jaida's food with salmon oil that I purchased online. It is formulated for dogs, and boy does she look forward to dinner! Also, I just bathed her yesterday, and saw a huge difference. I know others who use flaxseed oil supplements too. Hope that helps!
There is nothing you can do externally to moisturize a lab's coat. It must be done internally.

Randi, are you stil feeding the Kirkland? Maybe try the ProPlan Sensitive Skin and Stomach. I'm feeding that to some of my guys and they are doing great. Otherwise, Dutch and Cissy get Nupro and their coats are very nice!! Dutch's coat has thickened some and he glistens. No itchies from any of my dudes. He looks pretty good for a labrahound!! lol
I've been giving Jake Benadryl which has helped 100% with his licking, now I'm going to give them a supplement in their food for their dry skin. I think I'll get some salmon or flaxseed oil. I don't want to change their food since they not only like it, but poops are good and regular and they have done well on the food.
I always seem to forget how icky coats are during shedding season - it doesn't last as long as the shedding, but I definitely see a change. The "old" hair is drier.
I use grizzly salmon oil and 200 IU of vitamin E ( a trusted source recommends giving vit e when giving salmon oil)
I use liquid derm caps as a supplement on Guinness' food. He gets 2 squirts on each meal & luvs it. Its made up of a combination of fish oils, safflower oil & borrage oil
Aids in fatty acid uptake.a trusted source recommends giving vit e when giving salmon oil
