Our 3 year old black lab (Jazmine) landed on her tail while playing catch today. I put a splint on her tail made of two dowels from the garage. The brake appears to be about five inches from her rear end. I called the vet, since it happened after hours he said to give her an aspirin and bring her in in the morning. Is it worth taking her to the vet? And what can I do for her?
Are you sure its broken? it could be a condition called cold tail.
Cold tail doesn't always occur after contact with cold water. It can be triggered by heavy/strenuous exercise.
If she really has broken her tail, you need to get her to the vets ASAP. Unfortunately a home made bandage won't do much for her --she will need medical attention.
this dog needs to be seen by a vet!
