I posted the other day about my pup having a lot of dandruff for the past month or so. She has been blowing coat for about that long as well, and has been itchier than usual. I'm not really happy with how her coat looks right now and was wondering what might help. I feed one tin of salmon each week at present.....prior to the last few weeks I was feeding sardines once a week. I'm not sure what is causing all the dandruff. The Vet has suggested a product called "Missing Link" and I'm hoping to get opinions from those of you who use/have used it. Do you think it would help? TIA
how old is the pup and what are you feeding her?

Labby - She's 16 months and has been on Sensible Choice Lamb and Rice for the past 4 or 5 months. I'm currently switching her back to Chicken and Rice. It's not a problem I've had before and maybe it has something to do with her blowing coat for the past month, but there's quite a bit of dandruff.
its more than likely due to the blowing. if she's 16 months old you can try the missing link. i just wanted to make sure she was not a young puppy. i've never had much luck with missing link though. maybe someone else has.

Thanks Labby - Well she sure has been blowing coat profusely now for about a month.* I hope this is what's caused the dandruff and it just disappears on it's own.* I think the shedding is FINALLY starting to slow down slightly so we shall see.* She has really been scratching a lot.* I may give it a bit before trying the Missing Link.* Do you give your dogs any sort of supplement for their coats?
Thanks maggiesparents. Next time I'm in the Vet's I'm going to have a look at it. I'm not at all familiar with the product although I had heard of it. I'm guessing not many people on the forum have used it judging by the lack of responses. (only two ) I was hoping I'd get a few more, but thanks to both you and Labby for answering.
Our breeder recommended we use it and said she uses it on her dogs. We just bought some but it is too soon to see a difference. I feel like it gives her more energy though...or maybe its the time of year. We are using because of allergies/dry skin.
You might want to take a look at Nupro vs. Missing Link. I have been using Nupro now since last December and am extremely pleased with the results. It will give them a soft coat; but Dutch had a problem having a coat on his undercarriage, so I'm fine with it. I order mine from entirelypets.com
sandy, check out petfooddirect.com for nupro. they generally have 25% off sales on a regular basis. that's where a lot of folks i know that use nupro, get it.

I can never find that 25% thingy. I checked there before and it was a tad higher; but I'll have to dig around for the coupon things. Thanks!!Originally Posted by labby
I'm gonna take pictures of "nekkid dawg" before and after and send to them. Maybe they would like some porn for their website!!
