Brody is 3 year old English lab. Weighs 80 pounds. Vet suggests losing 5 to 10 pounds.
Currently eating Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula - Chicken and Brown Rice Recipe (Has been on this brand since he joined our family at 8 weeks)
Gets 1 cup of food with 1/2 can of green beans or carrots twice daily.
Treats are being limited to one ounce (112 calories) dehydrated venison daily.
Vet suggests Royal Canin or Hills Science Diet.
I would like to try Premium Edge Healthy Weight Reduction = 44% protein, 13% fat and 5% fiber.
My research suggests high protein, low fat and fiber is good for healthy weight loss.
Need some advice from the people who know!!!!
P.S. Weather is getting better here in Pennsylvania so we are getting more exercise from the lazy winter.
Hi- Why don't you try wellness core reduced fat. Our last lab did very well on that without having to reduce food too much. Fromm also makes training treats that are only 2 calories per treat. You can even break those in 1/2. I definitely don't recommend Science diet. You should look up dog food reviews and will find that this is not a good food. Vets make money by selling this...some sort of incentive. You can also add some pumpkin to food. its high in fiber and fills them up. Not TOO much though
