    DefaultFish... shiny coat question

    #1 question

Can a yellow lab HAVE a shiny coat? I mean does it make a difference in the way they look?

    #2 question

At what age do you start adding the fish to their diet? As a puppy?

Bob has made some interesting observations regarding this, but a yellow will never have the same shiny coat as a chocolate or black just because of physics. I do remember Bob posting about his morning walks with Puff and how he can detect a shine in the right sunlight.

As for the age, I don't know when you can start. I've stopped because the current kibble Jes is on does the job without supplements. I believe he was around 1 year old when I tried feeding fish once or twice a week, but that doesn't mean you have to wait that long.

With all the stomach issues you dog has had, do you think it's a good idea to start something new? Personally, I don't believe in adding all sorts of stuff to a puppy's diet. If you feed a balanced kibble, there really is not a need to supplement.

Uh.... no I'm not looking to add anything to his diet. I merely was curious and asking a question we were talking about over in the puppy forum. :

Sorry... I took that in a patronizing kind of way...

School has me stressed and sensitive.

The fish is a great question!

We were feeding Layla salmon and our vet told us to stop; it's a shame because she loves it

Does it harm them at all to have a little bit?

Why did your vet say to stop?

Normally, no, it doesn't harm them at all.

while i have no problem with giving a bit of fish to an adult dog, i would not give it to a puppy. you do not want to supplement with anything like that as it can throw off the nutrients in its food.
