Uh.... need some help here.
Vet said I could do either or... I'm NOT paying for their Hill's stuff cause they seem to push it every visit. But I'm pretty sure we have to go the bland route here for Ender for the moment. Should I make my own (boiled chicken and rice)? or use a Eukanuba something?
When Puff has needed a bland diet, I buy a large can of canned chicken at Sam's Club, cook up a pot of brown rice with chicken broth instead of plain water, and make my own, 2 or 3 parts cooked rice, 1 part chciken. (Similar to the recipe in Giffin & Carlson's "Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook" -- a VERY useful book.)
I figure mine will have fewer ingredients than anything from the store. Plus I can regulate how much I cook and tell how much she'll need depending on her symptoms.

Why is Ender on a bland diet is he still having tummy issues?
i do what bob does. i make my own.

Yeah... see my tummy/poopy issues post. *Started his 24 hr fast at noon today (he had a couple of treats on our walk at 11) so so far he's missed lunch which he doesn't seem too upset about. *So I'm trying to prepare for whatever we are doing tomorrow for lunch since I will be at work during the day and will ahve to prepare it tonight if it is home cooked.
I have always made my own rice and chicken mixture.
We make our own chicken and rice mix and feed it a little bit at a time
If you can find ground chicken (in the meat section by the chicken...ground up just like beef is)at the grocery store that makes it a million times easier (for me at least)

We went through the same thing with Jake. He was eating 1.5 to 2 cups in the morning and at night on his own and was fine for the first 2 weeks then all heck broke loose! I did the vet blan diet thing to the total of over $450! What fixed him was cutting his food back to one cup in the morning (5:30am), .25 cup at lunch (12am) and one cup at night (6pm). If we give him a lot of treats for training that are VERY small... same effect and if not training he only gets 4 to 5 treats a day. That fixed Jake up. If you have any questions I see you live near me so you could talk live if you have any questions.
