    DefaultSalmon Oil good or bad?

I have a year old lab. I started giving her salmon oil (as per instructions, 8 pumps for her size) on her breakfast and dinner. After that, there will be times she'll smell funky (salmon oil smell) whenever she i guess do the act of farting. Then I changed it to 2 pumps (one for breakfast, one for dinner). Her smell has changed from 'there will be times' to 'occassionally'. Should I continue giving it to her?

I guess it's up to you,
I started giving my pup some to help with the dandruff, it hasn't help though I doubt it's doing any harm.
Rocky is 5 months, 50 lbs. and gets 1-2 pumps for breakfast only, the only time I smell it is washing the bowl.

Like yellow belly, we give each dog one fish oil in each meal. Over time one sees a huge difference in their skin. It also appears to help with arthritis (according to some sources) and with keeping ears healthy (our vet).

I was wondering the same thing. I have a 8 year old yellow lab and he does have allergies and is eating taste of the wild salmon but he has been itching a lot lately and I noticed red spots on his back and he is shedding like crazy. In addition his dandruff and dry skin is out of control too. I don't know if it is because of the weather or something bigger going on. I came across the Alaskan salmon oil and was wondering if I should start applying it to his skin. Any suggestions?

I use coconut oil. Gambit will just eat it off a spoon, but usually melt and put it on the kibble for each meal. I've used coconut oil for my doodle as well. They both get very dry especially in the winter.

    Here is the recommended use:

"The recommended dose is pretty easy; just give a teaspoon of coconut oil per 10 pounds of dog, or you can give a table spoon per 30 pounds. Start with about 1/4 the recommended dosage and build up to the recommended level over 3-4 weeks."

To be quite honest i have no straight answer to this question. I just know it's good and while you haven't seen it improve your pet's coat or skin it is probably a matter of time as it for sure is healthy. Would be great to know right recommendations though so am also following on this one!
