    DefaultHills Prescription I/D food. thoughts?

We had hoped that once Hamilton recovered from his colitis he could be weaned back to his regular food. We started reintroducing his moist food first and then started switching him back to his old kibble. Unfortunately within hours of having him 100% on his old food, he started vomiting bile and having bouts of diarrhea. The Vet suggested we continue Hamilton on the Hill's prescription I/D kibble mixed with his Earthborn moist. I would be fine with this except I am not thrilled with the corn and by- products used in I/D. Any healthier alternatives for a dog with a sensitive stomach? Hamilton is also prone to ear infections which makes me nervous with the corn.

    Wow
    wish I could help
I know how much you love Hamilton
Hopefully if someone knows the answer they will come out and advise

    Since this obviously bother you
Can you question your vet again (with your concerns that you mentioned)
Even ask your vet if he or she does not know the answer can they please check with one of their colleagues..?

I am a pain in the butt when one of my dogs are not feeling well or need medications.
The help @ the Vet will say (we have a lot of dogs to take care of)
I tell them I am sure they do a god job..but (I only have one.)

Again if you do not get a good answer here push your vet

my vet is wonderful, he returns my calls and is really patient but like most vets, is not an expert on dog foods. I heard vets get paid to push the prescription foods but on the other hand, don't want to deny Hamilton something that may be helpful.

My mom has two little dogs and they both suffer from colitis. The older dog has been on that food for almost 10 years and the other dog for 6 years. They both have sensitive skin but are not bothered by this food in the least. My beagle has IBS and he is on prescription purina EN. HE has done great too. Hope that helps.

Have you thought about trying him on a homemade diet or raw food diet?

My senior dog could not tolerate any commercial prescription food and the only thing that he could tolerate and allowed his digestive system to heal was to put him on a homemade diet consisting of real food.

The ingredients in commercial prescription foods can not compare to the quality you could use if feeding a homemade diet, whether it be raw, cooked or both.
