Hi to eveyone. I am owner of a blond male of three years which it is affection from a monolateral otitis from some months. The left ear exudes an abundant dark brown liquid (much similar to the bottom of coffee) with an odor not particularly bad. I clean it daily with epiotic. The exams have evidenced the presence of sensitive bacteria to the amoxicillin. On council veterinary I have tried to cure it with cortisone (in order reducing the inflammation) and a cycle of antibiotic (augmentin). They had a discreet success (absence of pain and annoyance with sensitive lessening of liquid) but after approximately 2 months the problem presented again with the same vigor. I used also a product in order to check for the presence of malassezia but it has not given some appreciable result. I hope lively you can supply the just cure to me for my lovely lab! Thank you very much and sorry for my english.
My first thoughts would be a food allergy. You need to discuss with your vet.
Ear infections are pretty common in labs so we have all had our battles at one time or another with them. *Here are a few sites that have some useful information to look at.
the woodhaven site has a ear wash solution you can make a home that people here call "purple stuff" *and a lot of people on here have had a lot of success with it hopefully they will give you their insite as well. *
Have you changed foods lately or anything in their diet? *Reoccuring ear infections can be a sign of allergies that can be caused by food amoung other things. *
I hope some of the information above is of use and you can get his ear infections cleared up.
I resolved with Thornit, a miraculous canker powder! Visit this site: http://www.championpetsonline.co.uk/...5246&p_i=35246.
It was a mite!
Thank you very much to all!
I'm glad to see you have it taken care of I hope that it will not return.
