Since Scotty started going to physical therapy, his ears are getting red on a regular basis. He shakes while still in the tank and his ears get wet inside. Over the last couple of days, I really tried to clean them well and they are getting pink again. Are they supposed to get red after getting wet and then go back to pink?
I can't help, but I hope Scotty's ears are better soon!!!
I'm not sure if this pertains to all labs or not, but when Abby's ears get wet from swimming or even after a bath some of the water stays in her ears. Our vet told us to wipe her ears out after swimming/a bath that way the water doesn't stay in her ear and cause problems.

You may want to get an ear wash from your vet (or use Labby's purple solution) and use it after swimming.
Mocha got a nasty yeast infection after swimming last summer. The vet told me to always clear her ears and give her a bath after taking her swimming. (Especially if the water is not the cleanest). He may have a yeast infection in them you may want to check with the vet.
I use Epiotic on Murray and Essy's ears after swimming. It dries out any remaining water. You have to get it from the vet. The purple solution would probably work just as well.
